The Junior Squad is a 8 week sprint coaching program for kids aged 10–16 years. Sessions run during the school term at Tom Hunter in Faulconbridge.

What Is the Junior Squad?

The Junior Squad teaches correct technique, plyometrics, sprint mechanics, agility and sprint training – the foundamentals of speed. This gains strength, and speed for their chosen sport. 

Perfect for kids who want to gain speed for athletics, rugby league, soccer, hockey, touch football, basketball. Specific sprint training will help them perform better on the field and track.

What Your Child Will Learn

Meet the Coach

Amy Daniel has been running for over 28 years and has represented Australia at the World Trail Championships, achieved a sub-3-hour marathon, and competed across track, road, and trail events.

As a qualified PDHPE teacher, sports massage therapist, and certified running coach, Amy combines experience and education to help juniors train safely, improve performance, and most importantly — enjoy running.

Private 1:1 Coaching

Private coaching is the fastest way to see real results. These sessions are tailored to your unique needs. Together we’ll target specific goals such as improving running speed, agility, acceleration, crouch starts, hurdles, or overall technique. I’ll work closely with you to create a personalised plan that keeps you motivated, builds confidence, prevents injuries, and helps you reach your running potential with the right guidance and accountability.

Session Details

  • Duration & Cost: $80 for 45 mins or $110 for 1 hour (discounted packs available for 8–10 sessions)

Whether your child wants to increase speed or endurance you’ll find a structured plan designed to guide you every step of the way. Simply upload your program into the app (Heroic App or TrainingPeaks), follow the sessions, and train with confidence knowing you’ve got a proven roadmap to reach your goals. This will include a series of sprinting drills and an assessment of your technique and mechanics will be performed. Based on the findings, you receive a tailored plan of exercises, drills, and a program to improve your speed and or running. This may include joining one of the squads, private or a program designed specifically for you.

Common Questions

My child isn’t a runner - can they still join?
Yes! The squad is inclusive and designed for kids of all levels. Even if your child doesn’t compete in athletics, speed coaching will help with their speed and fitness in any sport.

Each session includes:
Warm up → sprint drills → plyometrics → sprint session → fun game → cool down.

Training takes place at Tom Hunter Track, Harold Corr Track, and other local Penrith and Blue Mountains locations in the afternoons or weekends.

Yes. If your child would benefit from one-on-one sprint coaching, Amy also offers private sessions with detailed technique analysis and personalised feedback. These can be booked separately or in addition to the Junior Squad.
